At a glance: Proposed changes in state law regarding underage drinking

Here are the proposed changes, crafted by the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, in state law related to minors consuming alcohol:

  • Restore minor consuming alcohol to a true violation
  • Impose additional fines and license suspensions on business caught selling alcohol to minors
  • Require all beer kegs to be registered
  • Revise required signs that are required to be posted in bars regarding minors

What is the ABC board?

The Alcoholic Beverage Control Board is a regulatory and quasi-judicial state agency that oversees the manufacture, distribution, sale and consumption of alcohol. It is a five-member board and has support staff. It is responsible for issuing and enforcing licenses. It also assumed oversight of commercial marijuana earlier this year.
