SUMMARY:"From Shame to Shine" Recover Retreat
DESCRIPTION:The Queer Alaska Fellowship of AA will be hosting the first ever\, Queer AF Recovery Retreat! The retreat will be at Camp K on Kenai Lake\, August 21st\, 22nd and 23rd. This retreat welcomes 18+ folks of all genders and identities who self describes as “in recovery” from a drug or alcohol. While this is a queer retreat that aims to help LGBTQIA2S+ folks celebrate our queerness and support one another in our recovery journeys\, no one will be turned away\, allies are welcome. There will be speakers from a number of 12 step recovery programs and lots of fun activities! There will be crafts\, outdoor activities\, a sauna and lake time with our very own lifeguard! \n  \nThis event is being hosted Queer Ideas of Fun\, the only LGBTQIA2S+ AA meeting in Anchorage. While this event is oriented around the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous\, we are a group of queer people that welcome all programs of recovery. Attendees do not need to regularly attend 12 step groups to enjoy the retreat. We hope to foster an experience in which attendees have the opportunity to connect with queer people and allies in recovery for the goal of mutual aid. This retreat will be charging $150 in tuition\, but some need based scholarships are available. We want all those who are interested in attending to have the opportunity to participate\, wherever possible. \n  \n..

SUMMARY:2nd Annual Alcohol Sobriety Celebration
DESCRIPTION:This annual event recognizes and encourages sober individuals and celebrates with a day of events\, food and speeches! \n  \nThe Native village of Ruby is a small shrinking community along the Yukon of about 120 people.
