A call for action to address worsening alcohol problems in villages from Bethel liquor store

A leading tribal organization tells the Alaska Dispatch that since the first liquor store opened in Bethel in May, young children are getting hold of alcohol. Bootleggers are stocking up at Bethel’s stores and sneaking it into dry villages. Overwhelmed tribal police are being overrun with calls for help. The group is now asking for action to be taken.
