According to epidemiologists at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), older adults are drinking alcohol more than ever before. The organization’s 2017 study, published in JAMA Psychiatry, found that problem drinking is on the rise among older Americans.
And it’s a dangerous trend for many seniors. In fact, according to the National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence (NCADD), some 11% of elderly hospital admissions are due to drug- and alcohol-related issues. Read more here.
