True North Recovery’s Day One Center operates as a Behavioral Health Urgent Care whose goal is to provide walk in integrated behavioral health assessments, withdrawal management services, case management, peer support, harm reduction services and crisis stabilization for those experiencing crisis, mental health and substance use disorders.

Dylan’s Place, located in the Day One Center, provides withdrawal management services to address the need for detox within the Mat-Su Valley.

Currently, there are thousands of Alaskans who suffer from substance use disorder and very limited placements for withdrawal management in Alaska.

Dylan’s Place is named after Dylan Fuhs, a young Alaskan who died from an accidental overdose in 2017.  Karen Malcolm-Smith, Dylan’s mother, founded the David Dylan’s Foundation, whose mission is to honor those who have lost their lives to substance misuse or fentanyl poisoning and to advocate for awareness, and management withdrawal services.

Dylan’s Place is funded by $255,000 in proceeds from the sale of Dylan’s home through the David Dylan’s Foundation, following his death. The Alaska Department of Health, The Division of Behavioral Health, The Mat-Su Health Foundation, and the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority are also contributing funders of this project.
