ASPC presents: CONNECT Suicide Postvention Training

You are invited to participate in a free 1.5-day Connect, Suicide Postvention virtual training, designed by the National Alliance on Mental Illness New Hampshire (NAMI NH). Connect is recognized by the Zero Suicide in Health and Behavioral Health Care as a national best practice program. We believe that you are critical in helping us to develop a suicide postvention plan. A postvention plan helps a community respond after a suicide death. You will represent one of five key sectors: Mental/Physical Health; First Responder/Law Enforcement; Social Service; Faith/Spiritual/Funeral; and Schools. This training is provided by Anchorage Suicide Prevention Coalition. Training day one [December 9, 2020 8:30am-2:00pm] is full of virtual instructive and interactive training delivered by the founders, Elaine de Mello and Ann Duckless.

Training day two [December 10, 2020 8:30am-12:20om] is a virtual facilitated planning process to integrate the information from day one into a community suicide postvention response plan, with considerations of local resources and culture. This second day will involve only 15 participants grouped into five core areas. At the end of day two, our goal is to have developed the framework of a postvention plan that contains 15 key action areas that we can develop into a borough-wide plan.

Commitment/registration: ASPC and other planners recognize that this is a substantial time commitment on your part, but we believe that you and your agency are integral to this process. We are excited to move forward with your participation. You would also need to be available in the future to help further develop the borough-wide suicide postvention plan.
